Respond to this 200 words 2 citations.
The objective of the Facing History and Ourselves (FHAO)site is to “help students learn about hatred and bigotry so they can stop them from happening in the future.” More specifically they seek to support educators, transform schools, and gather communities (FHAO, 2020). They seek to accomplish this through several programs such as sponsoring innovative professional development, produce classroom resources, and by having a new understanding of the methods of teaching (FHAO, 2020).
When looking at the we can use and apply to our own work there are several things we can apply to our own settings. For one I would seek to help support and improve my fellow potential educators as we have a very large effect upon the students, even if we are unaware of it. According to Neito (2018) teachers can unfortunately “profile” or have expectations for different groups of students and expectations if negative can do damage to the students. They note that while this may be intentional its something educators need to be careful of doing (p.65). Using their “We Support Educators” programs we could gain access to resources such as improving our pedagogical approach, possessing access to school-wide models, programs targeting the needs of urbans school; and several others (Neito, 2018). With this we could help improve the skills of teachers and our organization.
